The Problem
Women in business continue to face systemic barriers, whether they’re launching startups or advancing in the workforce. In 2024, women-founded startups received just 2.3% of all venture capital funding, with funding for Black and Latina founders remaining below 1% (PitchBook). Across industries, the gender pay gap persists: women earn only 84 cents for every dollar earned by men, with even greater disparities for women of color and LGBTQ+ professionals (U.S. Census Bureau, HRC). Career advancement is equally limited—only 81 women are promoted for every 100 men, dropping to 54 for Black women and 65 for Latinas (McKinsey & LeanIn, 2023). LGBTQ+ workers, especially transgender women, face steeper wage penalties and report higher rates of workplace discrimination. These inequities are not a reflection of capability—they are a result of unequal access to capital, opportunity, and leadership. The Know is a platform built to close these gaps by providing women and underrepresented founders with the community, visibility, and tools to succeed.
